Often times we set our prayer schedules around the time something is about to occur or while something is going on. You know, a week or two before it's time to be used by God, we...get into prayer. Our 'fervent' prayers are birthed in the midst of crisis, you know, when we get that emergency call or email to pray, because we are in need of God's intervention "Right Now!" This is how we have lived 'hitherto' up until now...Let this article be an EBENEZER, which means a "Stone of Help" to the Kingdom.
We sing the song, "It's a New Season, It's a New Day...," however, with new seasons, 'old things must pass away and behold all things must become new." This means that we must change our methods of prayer. We can't wait until a crisis or a need comes to pray. We must learn to "Pray in Advance." If you know you are in a new season in your life, then you must declare, "My suffering days are over!" The scripture says in Romans 8:18, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compare with the glory which shall be revealed in us." So since my suffering days are over, I should know how to ptay in advance. Pray BEFORE the crisis comes. We should have learned during our days of suffering the tactics that the enmy uses to announce he is on his way to kill, steal and destroy, and we should be able to discern in our spirit that "It's time to pray in advance!"
Pray before the crisis hits my life, my family or the ministry. During this season, we can no longer wait on a specific time to get here before we begin to pray, we must pray in advance before the adversary has an opportunity to plan his strategies. If we pray in advance, we can advert the enemy's plan of destruction! We must understand, when the season changes in our lives, the atmosphere changes. The climate is different. We must get comfortable with our new altitude in God. We must learn how to relax in God - we must breathe differently, think differently and believe God differently! We have the authority over our situations; if we dare to pray in advance, we can aide in redirecting our destiny.
However, we must maintain our Spiritual Rank, which is now on another level in a new season. For example, when we take a look at one of the Mother's in the Bible who learned how to pray in advance through crissi, we must agree that Hannah learned how to pray in advance! Once God answered her prayer birthed out of her season of suffering, it raised herfaith and she took on a new way of praying...Hannah decided to pray in advance for her son. The Bible says that after Hanna had lent her child, Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod. Moreover, his mother (Hannah) made him a little coat, and brougt it to him from year to year, when she campe up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. This is an indication that Hannah prayed in advance over the little coat (I call it a mantle) she made for her son year after year. I believe that as Hannah was making her son his annual coat, that she prayed in advance that God would keep him, and that God would anoint him for the service that he rendered in the house of God. I'm sure that Hannah prayed in advance that her son would fulfill his divine purpose and affect destiny. As a result, the little boy Samuel became a great man of God, a prophet of God whom God used to anoint Kings!
Pray in Advance! It works far better than praying in the midst of crisis! |
